WikiHousing at ISHF 2025 in Dublin

Last June, architects David Juárez (Straddle3) and David Bravo took part in the International Social Housing Festival (ISHF) 2025, held in Dublin, Ireland. Their presentation, titled “WikiHousing Barcelona: A Faster, Greener and more Inclusive Way to Provide Affordable Housing”, offered an alternative vision of how to approach affordable housing through sustainability, participation, and replicability.

The ISHF is an initiative by Housing Europe, the European Federation of Public, Cooperative and Social Housing. It is one of the leading platforms for debate and exchange on socially driven housing policies in Europe. In this context, WikiHousing Barcelona was presented as a model that rethinks housing production through collaboration among citizens, public institutions, and technical teams — with an emphasis on fast, sustainable, and adaptable processes.

The talk offered a critical yet hopeful perspective, highlighting the potential to innovate through local action and collective knowledge. The case of WikiHousing Barcelona demonstrates how low-cost, sustainable, and socially impactful solutions can emerge by connecting architecture, community, and the ecological transition.
