WIKIHOUSING PROJECT PRESENTATION EVENT
The event was attended by local residents and the various stakeholders who have driven the project since its inception. The day began with a speech by the Dean of the COAC (Architects' Association of Catalonia), Guim Costa, who opened the ceremony by welcoming the attendees. Following this, Andrea Sassi, from the Antonomasia agency, introduced the speakers participating in the event.
The round of speeches kicked off with Jordi Valls, Deputy Mayor for Economy, Housing, Finance, and Tourism of Barcelona, who highlighted the city's commitment to new models of affordable housing and collaboration with the cooperative and experimental sectors. Immediately after, Carlota Pi (Holaluz) took the floor to detail the innovative energy harvesting technique integrated into the building. This solution will allow the development to focus on self-consumption and decarbonization, guaranteeing a minimal environmental impact throughout the housing's lifespan.
Finally, David Juárez (Straddle3) closed the speeches by explaining the uniqueness of this process, reminding the audience that WikiHousing is the result of a co-design and self-construction strategy started in 2022.
The building, constructed with a modular light-timber frame system, allows construction times to be reduced to just a few weeks, offering a rapid and ecological response to the housing emergency. WikiHousing is not just a building of four homes; it is a real and reproducible example that demonstrates how, through open industrialization and active participation, we can build more resilient and inclusive cities.
We would like to thank all the people and entities who joined us for this event. We continue working on the final details to make this project an inhabited reality very soon.
