in physics and philosophy, *aether was once believed to be a substance, a medium of great elasticity and extreme tenuity, supposed to pervade all space (the interior of solid bodies not excepted), and to be the medium of transmission of light and heat; hence often called luminiferous ether. this meaning of a signal-carrying medium is the origin of the name ethernet, based on the idea of peers on the network sending messages in what was essentially a radio system, captive inside a common wire or channel, an oblique reference to ether.
the late 19th century invocation of the concept recalls on a space *re_loader through trust - albeit our various mental physical and non-human checking systems. true space has no boundaries, merely an agreed progress between prearranged intervals. only when appropiate forms of context measurement are clearly selected and their opperation understood can the design of a comprehensible space be undertaken.
